PlayStation 5: Sony would host the unveiling event by mid-June, report says

It seems that the big unveiling event, from Sony's highly anticipated PlayStation 5, will take place next month.

With Microsoft hosting its first digital event focused on the next generation, everyone expects Sony to reveal what it's been working on.

Sure, we've already taken a brief but interesting look at the new DualSense control, and we've all seen Mark Cerny's intensely technical presentation, but we haven't been able to appreciate the main thing yet. More importantly, we don't know anything about Sony's plans for gaming

According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, Sony is planning to make its own presentation sometime in June, although Schreier stressed that plans could change as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

"So far, as far as I know, Sony is still on track to do at least one thing in early or mid-June, say," he revealed in the most recent episode of the Press Start podcast.

This aligns with something similar that Jeff Grubb of Venture Beat shared on the Resetera forums in April. There would be an event on June 4, according to Grubb, but Sony could show the hardware even earlier.

As Schreier pointed out, it's best to take all this with caution for now. That said, it's good to know that we hope we don't have to wait long to learn more about Sony's plans.

So far, Sony is expected to launch its new console system, called PlayStation 5, for the 2020 holiday season.
