The new controller is named the DualSense.Sony gives us our first look today at the DualSense, the new PS5 controller shipping with the PlayStation 5 later this year. A post on the PlayStation blog detailing the new DualSense controller makes note of the planning decision to stay "much of what gamers love about DualShock 4 intact," but despite holding on to a number of the old controller's most iconic qualities, the DualSense features a lot of latest features to bring into the next-generation of PlayStation too.

Two-Tone Color Design and lightweight Bar Placement
The most noticeable difference between the DualSense and former DualShock controllers is its striking two-tone design. the sunshine bar placement has also changed--instead of being located at the highest of the controller, it'll now sit on each side of the touchpad. This, consistent with Sony, will grant it "a slightly larger look and feel."
New Form Factor
The new DualSense controller seems to possess a rather thicker form factor than the DualShock 4. While we do not have the precise measurements and haven't held one in our hands yet, the form is certainly a divergence from previous PlayStation controllers. consistent with Sony, the angle of the hand triggers and therefore the grip is updated to form room for a few of its new features, just like the introduction of adaptive triggers.
